We started this sprint off with sprint planning sessions. We had two planning meetings. One occurring on Monday directly after our Advanced Professional Skills lecture and another meeting taking place after our lectures had ended Tuesday afternoon.
Organizationally we made one change in the way we segmented our communication. We decided that instead of having multiple channels on Slack for the various aspects of our work that we would have a single channel for each week of the term. And thus for this sprint, we relegated all our communication to the new week3 channel on Slack.
Our first planning meeting was short due to the lecture slides not being on available on Blackboard making it difficult for us to work out which tasks we had to do. However, we could decide on who could write this week's sprint retrospective blog. Also, we decided on a final name for our product. We all posted what we believed would be a good name for our product, into the week3 channel so that we could vote for the one that we believed would be most suitable one by upvoting the suggestion. We picked the one with the most votes which - ThawSafe. We believe that the democratic approach for deciding the name of our product was the best way of deciding it since it meant that we all had an equal voice in what would be said in our product.
During our second meeting, we made significantly more progress since the lecture notes were available to us on BlackBoard. During our meeting, we worked collaboratively on Market Segmentation. Here we all sat in The Hub in Áras na Mac Léinn discussed what markets we would like to aim to sell our product in and subsequently fleshed out the different parts of aspects of the market segmentation during the brainstorming process producing a skeleton version of the final market segmentation document. After this, we broke down what we had to do into smaller tasks that could be picked up and completed by one person. We also worked on the IRS challenge, where all looked through the IRS website to find its flaws. The collaborative approach for doing the brainstorm worked very well for us, as having multiple perspectives on each of the segments allowed us to develop a better view of the market.
